PTA Leaders Stretch Their Minds at Summer Leadership Training
Volunteer parents and educators from across the state traveled to Raleigh Saturday, July 23, and dedicated a full summer day to sharpening their skills at the Summer Leadership Training hosted by NCPTA. More than 150 leaders attended the sold-out training this year.
The day kicked off with a “Stretch Your Mind” session presented by Jill Marie, organizer and certified yoga instructor of Groundwork in Raleigh. With a focus on breathing and taking the time to find some balance and appreciate others, the opening session set the tone for a relaxed day of thinking creatively while getting organized for the year ahead.
Participants reviewed nonprofit laws, explored healthy school activities, engaged in roundtable discussions, and exchanged unique ideas with other PTAs. A vendor lunch provided an interactive opportunity for PTA leaders to discover new resources while also interacting with other participants.
NCPTA also shared parent involvement tips, tools and best practices from the nationally recognized NCPTA Parent Involvement Initiative. This session addressed the importance of building the bridge between home and school.
Thanks to all who were able to join us. We applaud you and your local PTA volunteers for working together to improve student achievement.
Stay tuned for future learning opportunities!
